On September 17, 2010 Yelp held their “Star-ry Night 80’s Prom for the Elite Yelpers at Cambria Suites, RDU Airport! Everybody had a great time There was a great DJ, Island Sounds that was spinning 80’s tunes throughout the night, a prom king and queen were crowned, there was spiked punch and hors d’ouerves and everyone that participated was dancing the night away!
For those who are unfamiliar with Yelp, Yelp! is a website that was made to help people broaden their horizons and find new restaurants, hairstylists, hotels and more in their area. People can write reviews, comment on other people’s reviews, save places to visit in the future and so much more! In every area, ours is the Raleigh-Durham Triangle, there is a group of Elite Yelpers. Those are people that are very involved with Yelp, writing reviews, interacting with other reviews, etc. About once a month there is an VIP party for the Elite Yelpers that is at a Restaurant or venue in the Triangle that is involved in Yelp. There is usually a theme, some kind of sponsored drink of the night and fun activities to enjoy.
Our Events theme was the Star-ry Night 80’s Prom and nobody skimped on costumes. Everyone was decked out in their poufy sleeves, powder blue tuxes and corsages. Rain Vodka sponsored the event so there was a delicious “Spiked Punch” available to all of the attendees. Island Sounds dj-ed the event and gave a great variation of the classic 80’s songs we all know and love. There was also a great Photo Booth where you could pose in your 80’s attire and remember the night! Overall, the event went great! Take a look at the reviews and a few pictures from the night!
